AN APPEAL by West Sussex Council to build up to 70 homes on land south of Athelstan Way, Horsham, has been dismissed.

Government planning inspector Tim Wood’s decision has just been received following an inquiry held in October and December last year.

He said the need for housing would be ‘achieved at the considerable expense of the loss of an attractive area of open countryside where the impact of the proposal would be significant’.
