A posse of litter pickers made light work of sweeping the fields, hedgerows and ditches of Chesworth Farm for debris in the Friends of Chesworth Farm’s annual litter pick.
Some of our volunteers confessed it was more enjoyable than they had thought, working round a favourite field or two with new companions, using picking equipment kindly supplied by HDC. One couple even added weeding round the snowdrops on the Riverside Walk River Arun loop, much to the pleasure of later visitors.
Most people finished up in the volunteer centre for restorative hot drinks and homemade cake in front of the woodburning stove. Around 10 bags of litter were collected – from the dangerous (broken glass and more) to the anti-social (we are sure you don’t want the details).
Thanks to all who took part, Chesworth Farm will be a cleaner, safer, more attractive place for the next few months. And a shout out to all those who pick up litter on their own visits, we do notice you know!
