A purpose-built dog splash is soon to be constructed on the Arun at Chesworth Farm.
The Friends of Chesworth Farm committee has been sympathetic to the calls for one from some of the farm’s dog walkers, especially since part of the Arun river bank is now protected within the new wetland area.
Over the winter the committee developed the design for a dedicated dog platform on the River Arun. Following HDC’s approval of the design the committee secured funding and obtained formal permission from the Environment Agency for its installation. This platform will allow dogs to get in and out easily and will prevent bank erosion.
Everything is now in place, and the dog splash will be sited on the east side of Pedlars Way, on the left as you approach the Arun Bridge from the farm side. The contractor (the same one who worked on the wetlands project) plans to start around Thursday 16th or Friday 17th April.
